Sri Lankans have a history over 2500 years along with a unique food culture. In the ancient households, therapeutic properties of food and beverages are utilized in a balanced way to attain a healthy life. Sri Lankan healthy food culture is gradually disappearing in the modernized households due to different mismatches.
Aurasa produce are developed to bridge the prevailing mismatches through food technology, indigenous knowledge utilization and selection of unique ingredients.
2. Ingredients
Ingredients used for the Aurasa products are collected only from naturally grown plants in Sri Lankan localities. Aurasa pays special emphasis in ingredients and only the selected traditional plant varieties are used as ingredients. Depending on the product requirements plant leafs, flowers, fruits, tubers and whole plant are used for.
Aurasa products. As a policy Aurasa does not use parts of budded plants, grafted plants, hybrid plants and genetically modified plants as ingredients.
3. Quality
Harvested ingredients are shipped to Aurasa production facility and undergoes through a quality assurance process before processing. Some of the Aurasa ingredients are seasonal and they are processed and stored in Aurasa warehouse to meet the continuous demands. .
The best packaging materials are selected for the Aurasa products considering the food safety and quality concerns.
4. Consumer packs
All herbal drinks are packed in non-woven corn fiber pyramid bags enveloped in an alu-foil sachet. Non-woven corn fiber pyramid bags are bio-degradable packaging material and provide optimum natural conditions in packaging the herbal products. Pyramid shape of the bag provides best conditions for brewing the herbal products, allowing herbal particles to contact with hot water optimally, and thereby maximum extraction within shortest possible time.
Standard pyramid bag sizes (120 mm, 140 mm and 160 mm) are used for packaging depending on the product weight, volume and moisture absorption properties to maximize extraction of liquor. The pyramid bag is enveloped in three layered alu-foil envelop to retain the natural aeroma and flavors of the herbal product. The amount of the herbal material added in the pyramid bag is sufficient to produce 250 mL to 350 mL of herbal liquor with boiling water within 3-5 minutes.
