Description
This is a tropical plant that grows up to ten meters having seasonal fruiting. Fruit is about two centimeter diameter and it has a hard seed. Flesh surrounding the seed is consumed as a fruit. The product is produced by deseeding the cleaned fruit, drying, grinding and packaging in biodegradable pyramid bags. The fruit is one of the main ingredients used in Ayurvedic and alternative medicine. The fruit is said to have five tastes (sweet, sour, pungent, bitter, astringent i.e. madhura, amla, katu, tikta, kashaya) out of six, available in foods. All the five different tastes are sensed concurrently to the taste buds while enjoying the drink is a prominent feature of this drink.
